While I'm still wearing Rampage IRL (it chipped yesterday while I was making dinner though! D: I added a layer of Orly MMUtM to cover it up...), I thought I'd show you some re-swatches of some soft, delicate polishes!
These are definitely staples in my collection! :D
Essie Marshmallow - A soft, jelly white. Needs at least 3 coats, though. I believe this is simliar to OPI Funny Bunny.
It looks very nice over glitters. Here is one coat over Milani Gems (which itself is over 3 coats of Marshmallow).
Essie St Lucia Lilac - This is my absolute favourite pale lilac (lavender? geeze I don't know my colours that well :P). There is a tiny hidden shimmer that all but disappears on the nail, but makes the polish seem a little softer. 3 coats.
Comparison: Zoya Marley vs. Essie St Lucia Lilac - Like I was saying before, these are very similar polishes, but I prefer the Essie. The Zoya only needs 2 coats, though.
I've been having super strange dreams lately. Nail polish makes an appearance almost everynight in some capacity... ahhh :S
ouu the essies are so pretty, especially the marshmallow one, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMarshmallow looks fabulous on you! I never thought of wearing it by itself...I'm going to have to try that soon now.
ReplyDeletethe Marshmallow and glitter looks like cake with sprinkles.. or Icecream!
ReplyDeleteLayering marmallow over glitter looks amazing. Thank you so much for sharing. Wow I have both these lavenders and didn't know they were so close :)
ReplyDeleteYou've been showing us such beautiful polishes and these are no exception
ReplyDeleteI'm completely in love with the first polish...I adore that kind of soft colours :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I definitely want to get Essie Marshmallow someday! It looks so pretty, especially over the Milani Gems! Very pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog through PoP and I love it! I find your comps especially helpful. Looking forward to being a regular reader.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! If you have any questions or requests for comparisons, do let me know! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great staple white to have (if you don't have something similar already)!
ReplyDeleteI agree! Sometimes you just want something fresh and clean, right?
ReplyDeleteHaha, I can't wait to show you a horrible polish now! XD
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to pick up a lot of similar colours to what's in my stash already... I'm going to have to think about how to deal with it later LOL. Maybe buy a helmer and pretend I don't notice.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to bake a cake inspired by that mani now! XD
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it! It looks great with a coat of ChG White Cap overtop too! :)
ReplyDeleteI have a soft spot for girlie colours like this :D
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Gems under Marshmallow almost passes as Glitter in the Air! I don't have Marshmallow but I bet one of the Femme de Cirque colors would work...
ReplyDeleteOoo I love that Gems sandwich!
ReplyDeleteRight! :)
ReplyDeleteWoW! How did you get Marshmallow so smooth?! It always comes out streaky when I try it! I am in love with your application skills!
ReplyDeleteHmmm I'm not sure? My usual strategy with polishes like this is 2 thin coats (as quickly as possible, without going over it too much), letting that dry a bit, and then one more coat that's more medium-ish. I find the first two coats may be streaky, but as long as it's an even thickness, the third coat seems to even out the streakiness and opacity. I usually have problems if I obsess over making each coat even opacity, cuz I get extra brush strokes and dragging and blafkhuadhfkewaf you know how it is. So yeah. >.>
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I'm sure those Femme de Cirque polishes would work great!!
ReplyDeleteI came over from POP and I am obsessed with your swatches.
ReplyDeleteI went out and bought Marshmallow and Gems but it didn't turn out like your swatch at all. Please share your tips!!
I look forward to following your blog. I will be back daily :)
Hi there! :) Hmm for that swatch, I had a fully dry Marshmallow mani from the day before (3 coats topped with SV). Then I put one layer of Gems and let that dry, before doing another coat of Marshmallow, making sure there was enough polish on my brush (so no going over the nail multiple times!! otherwise you'll get streaks and more opaque parts). Hope that helps!!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any suggestions on bubbles in nail polish after it dries?? I only have this issue with Essie.. Any tips would be appreciated! :) thanks
ReplyDeletefantastic issues altogether, you just received a new reader.
